MVRDV won the first prize in the international design competition for Nanjing Jiangbei New Financial Center II, in Group C (Plot 18-34, 18-35), and will enter the Schematic Design phase.

评委意见："这是一组创意卓越的整体化设计，与南京城市的山水地貌积极呼应，同时又具备面向未来的视觉辨识度，与国际前沿的生态化人居理念保持同步。虽然形式和空间较为复杂，但核心的设计逻辑清晰直接，传递出强烈的低碳意识。"

Comments from the competition juries: “MVRDV offers an outstandingly creative and holistic design that actively echoes with the landscape of Nanjing, while defining a future-proofing visual identity that keeps pace with the international cutting-edge concept of ecological habitation. Although the form and space are complex, the logic of the design concept is clear and direct, conveying a strong vision of low carbon and sustainability.”

南京江北新区是国务院批复设立的国家级新区，也是中国（江苏）自由贸易试验区所在地。作为南京最有活力、最大规模的都市CBD集中建设用地，江北新区正在筹建具有强大区域辐射力的新金融中心。整体规划以紧凑集约的街区路网、公交优先的TOD理念、以人为本的城市慢行系统为主要特征，旨在成为21世纪充满活力的城市中心区，与南京既有城区形成两翼呼应的发展格局。其中，金融核心区是承载标志性建筑最集中的区域。本次竞赛涉及的6个地块，均以超高层的建筑体量、高效的公共交通连接、舒适的街区商业环境为设计目标，以科技化的金融产业为业态特征，设计成果需要代表高层建筑和都市形态领域国际领先的文化理念和空间功能，并与江北新区特有的地貌和历史文化相呼应。

Nanjing Jiangbei New District, as a state-level new district established with the approval of the State Council, is home to China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone. As the centralized construction land for the most dynamic and largest urban CBD in Nanjing, Jiangbei New District is preparing to build a new financial center with strong regional clout. Characterized by a compact and intensive block and road network, public-transit favored TOD concept and a people-oriented urban slow traffic system, its overall planning is aimed to make it a vibrant urban center in the 21st century to form a development pattern echoing the existing urban areas in Nanjing. Its financial hub has the most concentrated landmark buildings. The six plots involved in this competition are designed with the aim of super high-rises, efficient public transport hubs and a comfortable commercial climate, with the technology-based financial industry as the form of business. The design results should represent the internationally leading cultural concepts and spatial functions in the fields of high-rises and urban patterns.

Early projects by the office, such as the headquarters for the Dutch Public Broadcaster VPRO and WoZoCo housing for the elderly in Amsterdam lead to international acclaim. 250 architects, designers and other staff develop projects in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative design process which involves rigorous technical and creative investigation. MVRDV works with BIM and has official in-house BREEAM and LEED assessors. Together with Delft University of Technology, MVRDV runs The Why Factory, an independent think tank and research institute providing an agenda for architecture and urbanism by envisioning the city of the future.
