MVRDV, in collaboration with China Southwest Architecture, was announced a shortlist in the International Competition for Campus Planning Design and Architectural Schematic Design of "A Modern Classic" Campus -- Eastern Institute of Technology (Tentative). 7 teams were shortlisted in the first phase of the competition - Pre-Qualification and Design Proposal, and will enter the second phase - Schematic Design.

东方理工大学（暂名）位于浙江省 宁波市， 总建筑面积约为114.8万平方米，项目总投资约110亿元。未来的东方理工大学，将成为 一所集前瞻性、创新性、科技性于一体，设施完善、功能齐全的 民 办 非营利性 新 型研究大 学，以满足培 养一流创新人才、服务国家科技自立自强，以及引领世界高等教育改革的需求。

Eastern Institute of Technology (Tentative) is located in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. The Campus takes building area of 1,148,000 sqm, the overall investment is 11 billion yuan. The Eastern Institute of Technology will be a nonprofit and research-oriented university that is also pioneering and future-proofing to further serve the increasing need of cultivating top-notch innovative talents, developing national science and technologies, and leading world-level education reforms and innovation.

宁波甬江科创大走廊，是长三角环湾经济区三大科创走廊之一，定位为“长三角地区具有全球影响力的引领性科创策源地”。 东方理工大学（暂名）所在的宁波市镇海区清水浦片区，位于甬江科创大走廊、三江六岸的战略地带和宁波市生态带的交汇之处，拥有密集高效的科研院所，多元的创新平台，工业重镇的雄厚实力，是宁波科创产业发展最具有潜力的地区，空间兼具生态和科创的双重价值属性，一直被视为“生态+创新 ”的先决之地。

Ningbo Yongjiang Technical Innovation Corridor i s one of the three major technical innovation corridors in the circular bay economic zone of Yangtze River Delta, and is positioned as a "leading source of technical innovation in the Yangtze River Delta region with global influence". Qingshuipu Area of Zhenhai District, Ningbo City, where Eastern Institute of Technology (Tentative) is located, is situated at the intersection of Yongjiang Technical Innovation Corridor, the strategic zone of the three rivers and six banks, and the ecological belt of Ningbo City. It has dense and efficient scientific research institutes, diverse innovation platform, and great strength as an important industrial town, being the area with most potential for the industrial development of technical innovation. The space has the dual value attributes of ecology and technical innovation, and it has always been regarded as the prerequisite for "ecology + innovation".

MVRDV was set up in 1993 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands by Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries. MVRDV engages globally in providing solutions to contemporary architectural and urban issues. A research-based and highly collaborative design method engages experts from all fields, clients and stakeholders in the creative process. The results are exemplary and outspoken buildings, urban plans, studies and objects, which enable our cities and landscapes to develop towards a better future.

Early projects by the office, such as the headquarters for the Dutch Public Broadcaster VPRO and WoZoCo housing for the elderly in Amsterdam lead to international acclaim. 250 architects, designers and other staff develop projects in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative design process which involves rigorous technical and creative investigation. MVRDV works with BIM and has official in-house BREEAM and LEED assessors. Together with Delft University of Technology, MVRDV runs The Why Factory, an independent think tank and research institute providing an agenda for architecture and urbanism by envisioning the city of the future.
