Hung-Chih Liu Appointed as Gensler's Global Director of Cities & Urban Design to Further Drive Transformation of Design Business in Greater China and Enhance Strategic Collaboration in Global Markets

World-leading architecture, design, and planning firm Gensler is pleased to announce the appointment of Hung-Chih Liu as Global Director of Cities & Urban Design. In this new role, Hung-Chih will lead the company’s global urban development and design strategies, particularly focusing on Greater China. By leveraging Gensler’s cross-regional and multi-disciplinary design expertise, he will actively expand delivery models and design services to adapt to evolving market dynamics.

A Hands-On Expert Driving Urban Development Through Design Thinking

Hung-Chih brings over 30 years of international practical experience to Gensler. He will continue to dedicate himself to innovative cross-disciplinary integrated design methodologies and end-to-end urban action planning, with a special emphasis on the design and operation of urban public spaces. His work aims to deliver actionable design solutions for enhancing the quality of urban environments.

Hung-Chih has led numerous landmark projects both domestically and internationally, including the waterfront transportation corridor and urban space renewal design in Seattle, USA; the urban regeneration plan for the new district of San Diego’s ballpark; and the urban design for Manila’s new city center in the Philippines. His experience in China covers key projects such as the overall urban design for Beijing’s Sub-Center in Tongzhou, the urban design for the Start-up Area of Xiong’an New Area, and the master planning design for the Yanqi Lake APEC International Conference Center in Beijing.

His extensive global project experience and cross-disciplinary expertise enable him to adeptly address core issues in urban development. By integrating international perspectives with local insights, he creates maximum value for clients and the environment. As a widely recognized authority in the industry, Hung-Chih not only possesses profound project experience but also adheres to a philosophy that combines technological innovation with human-centric values.
