MVRDV 受邀参加今年在上海世博展览馆举办的《设计上海》，由上海办公室总监张许慎先生代表事务所发表两场演讲与分享。

MVRDV was invited to join Design Shanghai 2025 at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. Mr. Peter Chang, Director of MVRDV Shanghai office will present the work and practice of the office in two events.

张许慎，MVRDV上海办公室总监、英国RIBA皇家特许注册建筑师。拥有丰富的海内外城市与建筑设计经验，参与的项目分布于澳大利亚、中国、新加坡等地。目前负责MVRDV 在中国项目全过程的管理与协调。先后参与作品包括深圳坪山体育公园、深圳万科立体城市、深圳南头古城if工厂、及广州万科Crystal等。

Peter Chang, Director of MVRDV Shanghai office, RIBA Chartered Architect. He has rich experience in urban and architectural design, and has been involved in projects in Australia, China and Singapore. He is currently responsible for the management and coordination of MVRDV's projects in China. He has been involved in projects such as Shenzhen Pingshan Sports Park, Vanke 3D city, Idea Factory, and Vanke Crystal.

通过 GATE M 西岸梦中心的成功改造实践，MVRDV应对了一个典型的城市现状：建筑从落地到翻新之间的时间周期似乎变得越来越短了。曾经，我们只是改造那些较早时期完成的、具有重要文化意义的建筑；而如今，在这个项目中，设计师不仅要改造来自上个世纪的工业遗产，同时也要处理寿命不到十年的未完工建筑。这说明，每一座城市的存量建筑都蕴含着趋于成熟的再开发价值，正等待着设计师们去发现和解锁。

The GATE M West Bund Dream Center is an excellent demonstration of how the time between a building’s realisation and its renovation seems to get shorter and shorter. It used to be that we only transformed culturally significant buildings from earlier time periods; here we transform not only 20th century industrial heritage, but even unfinished buildings from recent years. It goes to show how much value every city has in its existing structures that is ripe for designers to unlock.

光是视觉感知的基础，更是塑造空间、传递情感、影响功能的核心工具。但光不仅是工具，更是设计语言，而设计师是光的导演。当我们在谈论光时，本质上是在探讨如何用设计重构生命、空间与时间的关系。当我们将光视为“可被设计的空间语法”。在健康、可持续、智能化的设计趋势下，照明不再是单纯的功能载体。 以光为主题，串联MVRDV的一系列与光相关的建筑作品。通过光的运用，为空间和人赋予能量、激发更多层次的体验。

Light is the basis of visual perception, and it is the core tool for shaping space, conveying emotion, and influencing function. But light is not only a tool, but also a design language, and designers are the directors of light. When we talk about light, we are essentially exploring how to use design to reconstruct the relationship between life, space and time. When we think of light as 'the grammar of space that can be designed'. Under the trend of healthy, sustainable and intelligent design, lighting is no longer a mere functional carrier. By introducing a selection of MVRDV projects playing with light, you will be able to further understand how light can energize people and space, and to inspire rich experiences.

MVRDV was set up in 1993 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands by Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries. MVRDV engages globally in providing solutions to contemporary architectural and urban issues. A research-based and highly collaborative design method engages experts from all fields, clients and stakeholders in the creative process. The results are exemplary and outspoken buildings, urban plans, studies and objects, which enable our cities and landscapes to develop towards a better future.

Early projects by the office, such as the headquarters for the Dutch Public Broadcaster VPRO and WoZoCo housing for the elderly in Amsterdam lead to international acclaim. 250 architects, designers and other staff develop projects in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative design process which involves rigorous technical and creative investigation. MVRDV works with BIM and has official in-house BREEAM and LEED assessors. Together with Delft University of Technology, MVRDV runs The Why Factory, an independent think tank and research institute providing an agenda for architecture and urbanism by envisioning the city of the future.
