On 3 December founding partner Nathalie de Vries will discuss this question when delivering a keynote talk at the CTBUH 2024 Asia Conference. Considering first Tour & Taxis Lakeside, Irwell Hill, and Shenzhen Women & Children's Centre, Nathalie will discuss how we futureproof and make tall buildings more sustainable, through such examples as modular building, high-quality, low-waste construction, and the reuse and transformation of existing structures.

MVRDV 设计改造的深圳妇儿大厦将一座始建于 20 世纪 90 年代的塔楼改造成一座充满活力、色彩缤纷的多功能摩天大楼，为深圳福田区增添了一抹亮色；更重要的是，这座 100 米高的建筑为这座即将迎来“适应性再利用浪潮”的城市树立了建筑改造的范例

The MVRDV-designed Shenzhen Women & Children’s Centre transforms an outdated tower from the 1990s into a vibrant and colourful mixed-use skyscraper, offering a refreshing presence in Shenzhen’s Futian district; more importantly, at 100 metres tall, the building sets an important precedent for repurposing buildings in a city that is soon to see a “great wave of adaptive reuse”

Referencing Valley, The Canyon, and student work from her studio High Rise Culture, Nathalie will examine vertical living, and how in making our projects social and mixed-use it then becomes possible to create vertical cities. Responding to the need for buildings to be connected to and integrated with the broader urban fabric, Nathalie will also explain how we help make buildings and neighbourhoods more walkable, better connect to parks and nature, and form bridges to the city.
