2023年9月17日，MVRDV与“为什么工厂”共同呈现的 「绿色工厂」建筑艺术展 在杭州O2MUSEU 氧气场正式开幕。开幕活动由策展人、国内知名综合艺文策划人翁菱女士主持，MVRDV 创始合伙人Winy Maas 出席现场并发表了演讲。

MVRDV: Green Factory exhibition was officially opened on September 17, 2023 in the O2Musuem in Hangzhou. MVRDV Founding Partner Winy Maas unveiled the exhibition and gave a lecture at the opening ceremony, hosted by Ms. WENG Ling, curator of the exhibition.

「绿色工厂」展示了数百个 MVRDV的绿色项目，归纳出将绿色融入单体建筑设计和城市景观中的 26 种方式，最后总结了所有项目中的绿化总面积，以及包含的所有植物的碳储存潜力等数据结果

The Green Factory presents an array of hundreds of MVRDV’s greening projects, identifying 26 ways greenery can be designed into both individual buildings and urban landscapes, concluding with an overview calculating the total green area included in the proposals, and effects such as the carbon storage potential of all their greenery

「绿色工厂」展览以智库机构“为什么工厂”的《绿色沉浸》(The Green Dip) 研究为基础，在绿色城市的框架下回顾了 MVRDV的一系列作品。因此，展览融合了学术智库的严谨研究和建筑事务所的落地实践，生机勃勃的绿色景观蔓延展览空间内外，沉浸式的绿色体验增强了展览的概念和主旨。

The exhibition examines MVRDV’s work through the frame of greening, underpinned by The Why Factory’s “The Green Dip” research. It thus mixes the rigorous investigation of the academic think tank and the pragmatic action of a practicing architectural firm – reinforced by the immersive power of a living green landscape that permeates the entire exhibition, even inside the building itself.

The exhibition illustrated the impact of human activity on the planet by means of a giant section of the Earth’s Crust. After highlighting the environmental challenges our planet faces, The Green Dip introduces a a software for incorporating plants into different areas of buildings and cities. The goal is to explore the performance and implementation of greenery based on the planet's diverse biomes

The exhibition also includes the work of The Why Factory, the think-tank established at TU Delft by MVRDV founding partner Winy Maas, which provides greater depth and context through their “The Green Dip” research. Investigating the possibilities and effects of a radical greening of our cities, the metropolises of Hangzhou, Singapore, Dubai, Paris and New York are spectacularly reimagined, as the homes to millions of people become thriving green havens. The research delves into the context that makes this greening necessary – the global challenges we face and the urgency required to confront them – as well as the results that doing so would achieve. It also presents “The Greenmaker”, a software concept that provides a step-by-step manual to integrate plants into any surface of a building, with consideration of the biome in which the building is located.

This project investigates the possibilities and effects of a radical greening of our cities, with cities completely covered in forests. It includes a giant database of all plants as well as an immersive film with the transformations of 5 global cities, including Hangzhou, Singapore, Dubai, Paris and New York

MVRDV was set up in 1993 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands by Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries. MVRDV engages globally in providing solutions to contemporary architectural and urban issues. A research-based and highly collaborative design method engages experts from all fields, clients and stakeholders in the creative process. The results are exemplary and outspoken buildings, urban plans, studies and objects, which enable our cities and landscapes to develop towards a better future.

Early projects by the office, such as the headquarters for the Dutch Public Broadcaster VPRO and WoZoCo housing for the elderly in Amsterdam lead to international acclaim. 250 architects, designers and other staff develop projects in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative design process which involves rigorous technical and creative investigation. MVRDV works with BIM and has official in-house BREEAM and LEED assessors.
