近日，由gmp·冯·格康，玛格及合伙人建筑师事务所设计的苏州博物馆西馆，获得了德国设计委员会旗下的Iconic Award 2022（标志性设计奖）文化教育建筑类别Winner(优胜奖)。

Recently, the gmp project Suzhou Museum West has been recently awarded the ICONIC AWARD 2022: Innovative Architecture -Winner (Category Public / Culture / Education) by the German Design Council.

在贝聿铭先生的经典之作苏州博物馆新馆以西约10公里的狮山湖畔，建成了一座新的博物馆——苏州博物馆西馆。西馆的陈展内容以苏州通史为主，是对1960年成立的、以中国古代艺术馆藏闻名的苏州博物馆的重要补充。

The city is creating a new museum, Suzhou Museum West, about 10 kilometers to the west of the existing building that was designed by I. M. Pei. The new building will be used to accommodate an extension of the famous collection of ancient Chinese art housed in the museum dating from 1960, as well as a presentation of the city’s history from the Paleolithic to the present.

在设计理念上，西馆同新馆一样体现了建筑与自然景观紧密交织的关系。西馆位于苏州高新区中央商务区核心区的狮山文化广场。广场在狮山全景和狮山湖的掩映下，享有公园般景致的山水美景。在广场南翼，西馆与相邻的科技馆、剧院这两座新建筑一起形成了一个文化三重奏。

In its design concept, the museum replicates the principle used for its older version, i.e. an interlacing of architecture and nature. Together with two additional new buildings, a museum for science and a theater, the museum is part of a cultural trio to the south of Shishan Square Cultural Plaza at the heart of the National Hi-Tech District. This new park-like defined area in front of the panoramic Lion Mountain skyline, together with an artificial lake, will become the center of the business district.

西馆由十个25米见方的立方体组成，来自葡萄牙的石灰石贯穿了整座建筑从屋顶到地下庭院的内外立面。立方体的排布方式形成了一个朝西遥对着狮山的入口广场，入口大厅的两个立方体室内净高达29米，姿态昂扬地迎接访客。西馆地上共三层，围绕着一个中庭组团，中庭顶部设有条形天窗，室内可通过自然光采光。地下一层设有公共餐厅、员工食堂、报告厅和临时展厅。

The museum is made up of ten cubes, each with a side length of 25 meters. The cubes are clad outside and in with Portuguese limestone and arranged such that they form an entrance area facing the Lion Mountains to the west. The entrance cubes welcome visitors with the full room height of 29 meters. Subdivided into three stories, the cubes are grouped around an atrium that receives daylight from fenestration bands in the roof. The basement contains a restaurant, a canteen, an auditorium, and several halls for temporary exhibitions.

The iconic design award was established by the German Design Council, a 65-year-old authoritative design agency. Created by the German Parliament and sponsored by German industry in 1953 after World War II, the German Design Council is today one of the world’s leading competence centers for communication and knowledge transfer in design. For 65 years, the German Design Council has been working to promote design as an economic factor and make Germany one of the world’s most successful design nations.
